Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a peaceful country in Central America located between Nicaragua and Panama.

The territory is 51,000 sq kilometers (20,000 square miles) and about 4 million people live in the country. Costa Rica's literacy rate is 93%, which is among the highest in the developing world. There is no army, and 35% of Costa Rica's land is devoted to national parks or reserves. The country has an incredible variety of climates, vegetation, wildlife and topography.

As one of the eco-tourism capitals of the world, visitors to Costa Rica can enjoy many activities such as hiking in the rain forests and mountains, going to the Caribbean or the Pacific beaches, visiting active volcanoes, bathing in hot springs, white water rafting, cruising to islands, canopying, diving and much more.

Costa Rica is quite an advanced country, and is considered "second" world (somewhere between first world and third world standards).

San José is Costa Rica' capital, with many museums, international restaurants, shopping areas, discotheques, bars, cinemas, music venues, and theaters.

There is an active night life during the week and it gets even better on the weekends.

It is also the transpotation hub of the country, with buses taking you the beach and rainforests only a few hours away.
